William J. "Billy" Owens, Sr.

William J. “Billy” Owens, Sr., age 83, a lifelong resident of Bay Minette, AL passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his residence. He was a retired busines owner of Billy Owens Body Shop. He was a member of the Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498 and the Bay Minette Housing Authority. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during the Korean War. Bill was born to John and Ada Owens on May 1, 1937 in Bay Minette, AL.

He is survived by three sons, Billy (Sherry) Owens of Pine Grove, Larry Owens of Leaksville, MS and John (Carmen) Owens of Bay Minette, AL; two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Eady of Perdido, AL and Kay (Dan) Hartley of Bay Minette, AL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and a dearly loved companion and caregiver, Ruth F. Owens.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife and mother of his children, Kathryn W. Owens and two grandsons, Benjamin D. Hartley and Jonathan O. Hartley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Dan Hartley, Reverend Windell Hadley and Reverend Jimmy Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodard Cemetery in Lucedale, MS at 2:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ivory Harvey, Billy McMillan, Jr., Virgil McMillan and Jimmy McMillan all of whom he loved as his own children.
