William Arthur Gates

William Arthur Gates, age 78, born in Grand Bay, AL and a resident of Spanish Fort, AL died Sunday, October 18, 2020. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Brown and Root.

He is survived by his children, William Curtis (Marion) Gates of Millington, TN, Shawn L. (Russell) Strasser of Pine Grove, Cynthia S. (Ed) Griffin of Stockton, AL and Lou Ann (Rodney) Strasser of Daphne, AL; three brothers, James Leroy Gates, Sr. of Mobile, AL, Barney Wayne Gates of Mobile, AL and Robert Earl Gates of Mobile, AL; one sister, Alice Marie Garrett of Dickerson, AL; nine grandchildren, Paul Strasser, Alisha Brady, Stephen Gates, Blakeley Gates, Michael Griffin, Cherie Strasser, Anna McLaughlin, Jeffrey Gates and Rachel Landenwich; twelve great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Linda Louise Gates of Bay Minette, AL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel O. Gates; his parents, Thomas Arthur and Marvel Inez Wiggins Gates; siblings, Thomas Alonzo Gates, Inez Gates, Rosalee Maples, Charles L. Gates, Frances Darlene Gates and Barbara Jean Gates Van Etten.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Grant Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Milstead Cemetery in Lottie.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Gates, Blakeley Gates, Paul Strasser, Michael Griffin, Jeffrey Gates and Baylor Brady.
