Waldemar Diedtrich Obituary
Waldemar Walter “Wally” Diedtrich, age 88, born in Selby, SD and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Friday, March 25, 2022 at North Baldwin Infirmary. He was a retired Machine Operator with Scott Paper Company and a retired Alignment Technician with Foster Ford and Chuck Stevens Ford. He was the last surviving founding member of Halls Fork Assembly of God Church for 62 years.
He was married for 56 years to Betty Jean Hollingsworth Diedtrich who preceded him in death. They opened their homes and hearts to many others including the families of JoAnn, Janet, Ray, Jim, George, Janice, Bucky and his pastor and special friend Windell Hadley. They were blessed with four daughters, Sylvia Marie (Curtis) Joiner of Bay Minette, AL, Rita Kay Diedtrich of Bay Minette, AL, Pamela Mechelle (Barry) Thompson of Bay Minette, AL and Amy Lynn (Shenandoah) McLaurin of Monroeville, AL; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Meg) Diedtrich of Woodstock, GA, James “JD” Joiner of Bay Minette, AL, Hayden Thompson of Bay Minette, AL, Andrew McLaurin, Ellianna “Elli” McLaurin and Emilee “Emi” McLaurin all of Monroeville, AL; two great grandchildren, Leigh Margaret and Owen John Diedtrich of Woodstock, GA; one sister, Viola Mitchell of Mitchell, SD and several in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jacob Diedtrich, Rosina Helgeland, Arnold Diedtrich and Fred Diedtrich.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 202 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart and Reverend Windell Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 28, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
