On December 13th, 2023, Virginia B. Mills went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Viriginia was the daughter of James Wallace Blankenship and Annie Lee Crump Blankenship of West Point, MS, born on July 6th, 1928.
Virginia was a book-keeper by trade, having worked at the Bay Minette Building Supply before being employed by Reichold Chemicals for many years. While she was a very good book-keeper, her passion was singing. A long-time member of First Baptist Church in Bay Minette, she sang in numerous quartets, ensembles, and choirs (and kept the programs for each performance!) for over 50 years. She was also a Sunday School teacher as well as a faithful member of the Happy Hearts senior group at First Baptist. Most of all, Virginia will be remembered for her positive spirit and love for Jesus, which made loving people come very easy and natural to her. Singing with the heavenly angles will be her next and final choir!
She is survived by her children, David Patrick (Chris) Mills of Summerville, SC and Nancy Lee (Tommy) Parsons of Sterrett, AL; grandchildren, Tyler Patrick (McKenna) Mills, Victoria Leigh Mills and Stephanie Parsons (Steve) Day and great grandchildren, Savannah Day, Cooper Day and Elliott-Kate Day.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 70 years, Billy K. Mills and a grandson, Todd Michael Parsons.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Henry Cox officiating. A reception will follow.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. service at the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, The Future at First Campaign, P.O. Box 1628, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
