Sarah Thompson Obituary

Sarah Simmons Thompson, born June 30, 1943, moved to her heavenly home on August 11, 2021 at North Baldwin Infirmary. She was a retired legal secretary and retired secretary for the Maintenance Transportation and Warehouse Departments of the Baldwin County Board of Education. She was a member in good standing of Canoe Baptist Church. She loved God, her husband Carl, her family, her church, her Bible, her country, she loved to sing, crochet, and collect teapots.

She is survived by her husband of five years, Carl E. Thompson; her children Rhonda White, Duane White, and Michele White; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two “Alabama Grandsons” Evan Carter Howell and Frank Boatwright, JR.; three sisters Doris Elaine Simmons (Joe) Moseley, Mary Alice Simmons Stallings, and Patricia Charlene Simmons Enriquez; a number of natural and step nieces and nephews all of who she dearly loved, and a host of children she taught in Sunday school, children’s church and children’s choir who affectionately call her “Aunt Sarah”.

She is preceded in death by her parents Milton Tira and Bama Carter Simmons; her brother, Glen Edward Simmons; her son, Norris Wayne Presley, Jr.; two still born sons, Milton Cole Presley and David Tira Presley; a great-nephew, Wesley Kilcrease; a great-niece, Tiffany Parker; great-great niece, Anna Grace Faith Stanley.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 12:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Waylon Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL at 1:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Evan Howell, Scott Enriquez, Chris Quimby, Waston Bishop, Kevin Bishop and Kevin Thompson; Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Boatwright, Jr., Ray Cambert, Wiley Farrar, and Mike Smith.
