Ruby Mae Hammond Chancey, age 93, born in Stockton, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Friday, December 6, 2024 at her residence. She worked for many years at Vanity Fair in Atmore and in Robertsdale. She loved traveling the country with her husband after his retirement.
She is survived by one son, Jonathan Wesley (Carol) Chancey of Lampasas, TX; one daughter, Laura (Randal) Lane of Bay Minette, AL; one sister, Levette Jenks of Bay Minette, AL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Chancey of Lampasas, TX. Jaclyn (Will Hooper) Chancey of Chaplin, CT and Jess Chancey of St. Paul, MN; one great grandchild, Kelby Hooper of Chaplin, CT; four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hammond of Paxton, FL, Maggie Chancey of Bay Minette, AL, Shirley Roberts of Cave City, AR and Leola Wilson of Livingston, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wesley Chancey; a son, Russell Lee Chancey and two brothers, Gerald Hammond and Thomas “Tom” Hammond.
Graveside services and burial will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Stockton Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Mark Daniel officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Hammond, Alan Tyree, Houston Tyree, David Peacock, D.J. Peacock and Donnie Powell.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the North Baldwin Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 190, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
