Roy O’Gwin, age 89, of Bay Minette, AL passed away from his battle with cancer on 04/13/2026. He was born in Nauvoo, AL on May 18, 1936.
Roy met and married his one and only love, Peggy, in 1957. They were truly soul mates and were happily married until Peggy passed on June 1, 2025. Almost 68 years of true love, a rare thing in the world to be sure. Together they had 3 sons Roy Wesley (Wes), Bruce and Michael.
Roy loved his family and was the best husband, father and brother, not just to his own children as many came to call him Pops or Pop. His love and kindness helped many find a place in the world.
Roy and Peggy moved to Illinois in 1965 with sons Wes and Bruce from Adamsville, AL and lived in Wheaton, then Winfield, IL where son Michael was born. They lived in Portage, MI before moving to Bay Minette AL after Roy retired from General Motors in 1995.
He is proceeded in death by is parents Morgan O’Gwin (biological father who passed when Roy was still a child), by the man who raised and loved him as his father Reubin and mother Rose Keeton, sister Darlene, and his eldest son Roy Wesley.
He is survived by his son Bruce (Monica) and their children Bryce & Hannah (Tom), son Michael and sister Donna.
The family would like to thank with much love John and Sheila, children of Roy’s heart, niece and nephew Theresa and James for their constant love, support and giving hearts.
May he and his beloved Peggy be reunited and truly rest in love and peace.
