Roy Gayland Hollinhead, age 75, of Eight Mile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at 7:52 p.m. at Providence Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1950, in White House Fork, Alabama.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hollinhead, and nephew, Shannon Sheffield.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Hazel Alexander Hollinhead; sisters, Debra Hollinhead Pierce and Roxann Hollinhead (Stan) Davis; brother, Harold (Janet) Hollinhead; daughter, Dana (Kirk) Mills; grandchildren, Krista (Stephen) Bowlin, Laura Mills, Stephen Mills, and Rachel Mills; and great-grandson, Bobby Bowlin. He also leaves behind three nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Roy was known for his sharp mind and incredible memory. If you told him a name, a date, or a detail, he never forgot it. He had a deep love for history, a passion for classic cowboy movies, and a fondness for old television shows. Above all, he will be remembered for his quirky humor and his unique ability to make others laugh.
A procession will be departing at 10:00 a.m. on April 17, 2026, from Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette, Alabama, and proceeding to Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama, where he will be laid to rest with honors at 11:00 a.m.
Bro. Tim Whigham will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Kirk Mills, Stephen Mills, Logan Davis, and Phillip Davis.
Roy’s legacy of laughter, and lasting memories will live on in all who knew him.
