Richard Patrick “Ricky” Byrd, Jr., age 61, born in Atmore, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his residence. He was retired from Autrey Greer and Sons. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his boys and grandchildren. He was also a devoted son to his mother and sisters. At an early age the family lost their father leaving him to step up and be the father figure to his sisters. He loved his friends. You could often find him working benefits for families and friends in need.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Dyson (Brittany) Byrd of Bay Minette, AL and Samuel Kheyton (Jenny) Byrd of Bay Minette, AL; his mother, Linda Byrd Rollin of Bay Minette, AL; three sisters, Patricia (Ronnie) Smith of Stapleton, AL, Kellie (Randall) Phillips of Stapleton, AL and Shellie (Johnny) Morris of Bay Minette, AL; three precious grandchildren, Mikey, Koen and Anne-Lee and a village of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Patrick Byrd, Sr.; his stepfather, Charles Wayne Rollin; grandparents, Robert and Daisy Shiver, Addie Bell Shiver, David and Ellie Crane and Joe Byrd; two nephews, Steven Byrd and Christopher Smith; great niece, Addyson Thompson and life time friend Steven Williamson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Byrd, Shawn Sutherland, Randy Thompson, Randy Phillips, Landon DeLoach and Eric White. Honorary pallbearers will be Dempsey Parker, Greg Long and Charles Ray Wilson.
