Peggy Jane O’Gwin, age 85, of Bay Minette, AL passed away from her battle with cancer on Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born in Sumiton, AL on December 15, 1939 to James and Viola Morgan. She was the second oldest of eleven. Peggy met and married the love of her life, Roy, in 1957. They were two parts truly made whole and were happily married for 67 years.
She and Roy had three sons, Roy Wesley “Wes”, Bruce and Michael. She loved being a wife and mother to her boys and loved the life she and Roy built. She was a mother not just to her boys but to so many others over the years. Many came to call her mom and ate at her table feeling the love and support she gave freely.
She and Roy moved to Illinois in 1965 with sons Wes and Bruce, from Adamsville, AL and lived in Wheaton and Winfield, IL where son Michael was born. They later lived in Portage, Michigan before moving to Bay Minette to retire in 1995. Even after retiring she worked at Westminster Village helping and serving others with the same love and respect she gave to all she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son, Roy Wesley “Wes” and siblings, Mary, Jerry, Jimmy, Louis and Lucky.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Bruce and his wife, Monica and their children, Bryce, Hannah and grandson-in-law, Tom; son, Michael; sister-in-law, Donna; siblings, Helen, Joyce, Margie, Tammy and Steve and their spouses as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank you with much love John and Sheila, children of Roy and Peggy’s heart. James and Teresa from their constant love, support and giving hearts.
May she truly rest in love and peace.
