Patricia Smith Obituary

Patricia Parker Smith, born September 26,1940, died April 27, 2024, lived a beautiful life for 83 years.

The word that best describes how she lived is unassuming. She lived at peace with her place in this world.

Married for 62 years, she was a graceful, loving, and supportive wife. As a pastor's wife for forty- seven of those years, she stood in the shadows, quietly giving her husband strength and support. She was Ms. Pat. He was Bro. Don. Together, they faithfully served the Lord.

As a mother, she demanded respect and obedience while raising her children. When the raising was done, the respect remained, but all demands were lifted. She was selfless and generous to a fault, giving her love, support, and encouragement without limit. If you were blessed enough to be part of her life as family or friend, you knew that same love and encouragement.

Fun fact about Patricia: She was the queen of frugal! Her children always teased her with adages of frugality like- she would squeeze a nickel till the buffalos' eyes popped out, etc... True story- if you wrote your name on a red solo cup the Christmas of '21, chances are you would use that same cup Christmas of '22 and maybe '23. Her children might have given her a hard time about it, but she gets the last laugh because they will be the ones to clean it out!

Pat's retirement years have been spent in Bay Minette, AL, where she and Bro. Don found a fantastic church family at First Baptist Church, Bay Minette. The Lord blessed them with many beautiful friendships that were a joy and treasure for her. The last three years of her life were spent without her husband, but she lived those years in the same gracious and faithful manner that was her.

Ms. Pat leaves behind three children: Leigh Anna Norris (David), Linda Mayton (Tom), and Wayne Smith (Hope).

Five Grandchildren: Thomas Robert Mayton, Amanda Mayton Teal (Richard), Brittany Norris Lowe (Andrew), Katie Smith Smith (Preston), Joshua Bryant Smith (Megan).

Seven Great Grandchildren and one Great- Great Grandchild.

One sister: Cindy Parker Best. Preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Parker.
