Owen Mahone Liles, Jr., age 94, died on June 20, 2023. Owen was born in Frisco City, Alabama on December 4, 1928. He was a faithful active member of Bay Minette First Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a school principal at Stockton School and then Bay Minette Middle School.
He was preceded in death by his parents Owen Mahone Liles, Sr., Ruth Satchell Liles and sister Dolly Liles Pendergrass. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Spence Liles; daughter, Ivey Liles Baker and husband Baxter; daughter, Alicia Liles Gourlay and husband Thomas; son, Owen Liles, III and wife Vickie; grandchildren, Lee Baker, Dory Baker, Rachel Baker Davis, Robert Owen Gourlay, Sarah Gourlay, and Coleman Owen Liles; and great grand children, Baxter Baker, Henry Baker, George Baker and Audrey Davis; his nephew Jay Pendergrass and wife Carol Jones, nieces Judy Pendergrass and Nancy Pendergrass. He is also survived by a special caregiver and friend Kim Smith.
The Liles family is grateful for the care, kindness, love and support given by the staff of the Brennity at Daphne Assisted Living and Community Hospice.
Owen donated his body to the University of South Alabama School of Medicine, his final gift to others. A memorial service will be held at Bay Minette First Methodist Church on August 6, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1:00 p.m.
