Dr. Nathaniel Thornton, Jr., age 76, born in Houston, TX and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Friday, April 9, 2021 at his residence. He retired from the U.S. Navy where he served during Vietnam. After completing high school in Houston, TX, he received his undergraduate degree from William Carey College. He later earned his Master's Degrees from the The University of Southern Mississippi and Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He also earned his doctorate degree from Universal Life Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Seretha Reed Thornton of Bay Minette, AL; one son, Courtney (Lydia) Thornton of Ft. Worth, TX; one daughter, Millicent (Reginald) York of Mansfield, TX; three brothers, Ernest Mickey of Orange, TX, Willie M. Thornton of Orange, TX and Milton Cotton of Houston, TX; three sisters, Barbara L. Vining of Houston, TX, Vera L. Tillman of Houston, TX and Shelia Thornton of Orange, TX and three grandchildren, Marquita Thornton, Megan Ann York and Reggie York, Jr.
Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort with military honors.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
