Myrtle Maxine Johnson Bowen, age 77, a native and resident of the Crossroads Community died Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Mobile Infirmary. She retired from the State of Alabama after more than 30 years of service as a Circuit Court Clerk.
Maxine spent her time doing what she loved best, being with her grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, puzzles and sitting on her front porch. She will be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit and her commitment to her family. Of all her titles, “granny” was her favorite.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Bowen of Crossroads; her children, Ernest (Chandra) Anderson of Crossroads, Richard E. Anderson of Crossroads and Jenna (Chris) Guy of Bay Minette, AL; stepdaughter, Tracy (Ron) Holody of Illinois; her grandchildren, Joshua Anderson, Loralei Anderson, Andrew Guy, Ansley Guy, Emery Guy, Mercy Rose Guy, Bryson Middleton, Britton Corbin, Josh Corbin and Brandon Corbin and sisters-in-law. Bobbie Johnson, Nelda Johnson and Ann Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alonzo Johnson, George Johnson, Curtis Johson, Lorenzo Johnson, Lester Johnson, Carl Johnson, Helen Whatley and Ernestine Roland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church of God with Reverend Richie Nobles officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service at Crossroads Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Jason Miller, Chris Guy, Wade Durant and Joshua Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Berry, David Johnson, Britton Corbin, Josh Corbin, Brandon Corbin, Ethan Welborn and Andrew Guy.
