Melba Crnarich Obituary

Mrs. Melba Elizabeth Crnarich, age 84, died Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home after a brief illness.   She was a native and resident of Perdido, AL.  Mrs. Crnarich was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: John “The Candyman” Crnarich, grandparents and founders of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church: Rheudalph T. & Fannie Elizebeth Coleman; her parents: James Horace & Sallie Elizebeth Chafin; one brother: Mack Taylor Chafin; one sister: Patsy Ann Presley & one brother-in-law: Ivan I. Stewart all of Perdido, AL.  She was a faithful lifelong member of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church and loved gospel music and singing with her sisters and brother-in-law known as The Perdido Quartet.  She was employed early in life with The U.S. Soil and Water Conservation and then in August of 1960 she, along with her husband, formed Baldwin Candy Company which thrived for almost 59 years. Also, she loved to cook and provide large family meals on Sundays and holidays.

Mrs. Crnarich is survived by her son: Clark Crnarich, one sister: Gwen Stewart, one brother-in-law: Rodger D. Presley (Marilyn), all of Perdido, AL, numerous nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Perdido, AL with Bro. Tom Daw officiating, assisted by Bro. Ross Presley and Bro. Michael Hadley.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Music will be provided by the church musicians: Louis Presley, Donna Presley, and Ross Presley.  Special singing will be provided by Donna and Lizzie Presley singing “It Is Well With My Soul”, “Sweet Beulah Land”, “At The Crossing”, and “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”.  Pallbearers are Phillip Presley, Ross Presley, Jason Downey, Holden Presley, Drew Presley and Marty Cannon.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements provided by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette, AL
