Mattie Jo (Turner) Byrd

Mattie Jo Turner Byrd, age 89, born in Clark County, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Monday, March 31, 2025 at her residence. She was a retired sewing machine operator at Mannor Slacks, worked as a machine operator at Eastwood Neeley and was also a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Helen (Jimmy) Cowart of Bay Minette, AL and Lisa (Thomas) Cook of Bay Minette, AL; one brother, Gray (Shirley) Turner of Perdido, AL; four grandchildren, Carla Robinson, Joseph Cook, Donald Johnson ad Dayton Cook; sixteen great grandchildren and twenty great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Byrd; a daughter, Lousie Byrd Johnson; a son, Joe Franklin Byrd; two grandsons, Willian Anthony Johnson and Joseph Coy Johnson; four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, 205 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Findley, Myke Kelsay, Dyson Byrd, Clint Harrison, Jason Hodgen and Patrick Cook.
