Mary Catherine Owen, age 87, born in Mobile, AL and a resident of the Pine Grove Community died Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Crown of North Baldwin.
She was a character without a doubt. She lived a full life so full of love for everyone she could. Some of the things that she enjoyed most was Alabama Football, watching golf and gospel music. I remember mom, sitting in her room listening to the Gathiers on TV and singing along. I loved it. She loved festivals and being outside, and her flowers. She loved Gospel singing and her Seniors group. Our mother loved her children. There was never a time she wasn’t there to do all she could. No matter how big or small the situation was. Our mother grew up with 10 siblings. Being one of 11 was fun I'm sure. She took on the skill of a seamstress from her mother. She later worked in the health field as a CNA. She had 5 children of her own 3 boys and 2 daughters. Moms favorite color was Pink and Yellow. She loved Daisys and roses. However, she would plant anything and everything. Mom would watch her sports and wait for Sunday service so she could be in the house of the Lord. My mother loved Jesus.
On her last day with Us, She told us that she was going home today. She was so excited. She said I'm going home to be with Jesus today. That Jesus had told her. At first, I was thinking it was the meds however it wasn't. Even though my heart was breaking I knew she was so happy. The love of Jesus showed all over her. My mom always took us to church when we were growing up. I am so thankful for that soul seeded faith. For this woman that we thought would live forever --- She is now resting in the arms of Jesus. We have been blessed to call her our mom for all these years! We will see you again!
She is survived by her children, Doanld G. (Diane) Harville, of Pine Grove, Kathy Renee Harville of Pine Grove, Cheryl Smith (Shannon) Kendrick of Bay Minette, AL and Stephen R.
