Marian (Johnson) Gilliand

Marian Johnson Gilliand, age 87, born in Bay Minette, AL died Monday, December 27, 2021 in Camden, AL. She was a retired document controller for the Department of Human Resources and also a Kindergarten teacher.

She is survived by her children, Vera Lee Thompson of Bay Minette, AL, Hudson Randall “Randy” (Maricel) Gilliand of Saraland, AL and Anne Gilliand ((Martin) Flowers of Camden, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Sandra Dale Haag, Kevin Gene Thompson, Ricki Gilliand Martin, Ashley Amandoron, Ashton Randall Gilliand, Vicky Flowers Britt, Tammy Flowers Eady, Jeremy Warren Flowers, Joey Lee Flowers, Jessie Flowers Morgan, James Hudson Waldrop, Debra “Shelly” Pearce and Richard Waldrop, Jr.; thirty great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hudson “Pete” Gilliand; a daughter, Patricia “Patty” Waldrop; a grandson, Stephen Thompson; two great grandsons, Daniel James Brock and Nathan Alexander Thompson and siblings, Vera Johnson, Sybil Trawick, Mattie Burt, Bill Johnson and T.J. Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Hughes and Reverend Reid Nettles officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 3, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. service at Southside Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Flowers, Jackson Flowers, Joey Flowers, Lance Flowers and Jimmy Waldrop.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172.
