Margaret Elaine Knight was born December 29, 1943 in Troy, AL. She departed this world for her Heavenly home January 21, 2026, at the age of 82. She was raised in Bay Minette, AL where she met the love of her life, Jon Knight, Sr. They resided in Bay Minette until they retired.
She worked at Baldwin County Bank and later was co-owner of Knight’s Furniture. She received a Masters of Art in English Literature from the University of South Alabama. She also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Faulkner State Community College and Troy University. After retirement she and Jon moved to Pike County, AL where she transformed the woods into a beautiful vision of flowers. She loved nature. She was always outside tending to her day lilies, roses, camellias and numerous variety of flowers. She became a master gardener and wrote many articles for their club.
Her talents were remarkable. She was a painter, a seamstress, a quilter and a wonderful cook. Her most passionate love was for the Lord and her family. She was proud of the legacy she shared with her sister and brothers. Her true mission was to serve the Lord and her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church and after their move Springhill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children, Kathy (Johnny) Cabaniss and Jon (Charlin) Knight, Jr.; four grandchildren, Jamin Valverde, Buzz Cabaniss, Olivia Knight and Kaytlin Cabaniss; her sister, Sue (Jack) Rainey; brothers, Bruce Talbot and Frank (Nadetria) Talbot and her best friends, Mae Rainey and Mary Joyce Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jon Knight, Sr.; her parents, Adrian and Mary Evelyn Talbot and grandchildren, Jon Martin Valverde and Hannah Lauren Knight.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 26, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service at the First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Richards, Bill Talobit, Blake Talbit, Garrett Stewart, Devin Hastinbgs, Robbi Hardy, Chris Powell and Thomas Feitsma.
