Margaret Nell Harbison, age 97, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 4, 2024. She was born on October 29, 1926 to Dorsey and Viena Drinkard.
She was married to the love of her life, Hurshel Deltas Harbison, for 40 years and they raised five children together. She was a lifelong homemaker and took care of their chicken farm. After raising their children, she went to work at Strong’s Department Store and Manor Slacks. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, Christian and friend to all who knew her. She committed her life to serving her family and others through various roles. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, crocheting, baking, along with many other hobbies. She was a lifelong servant of Christ and an active member of New Life Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school teacher and member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was the epitome of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Melinda) Harbison of Bay Minette, AL, Clarice Glasgow of Bay Minette, AL, Donna (Arthur) Goins of Bay Minette, AL and Evan (Gina) Harbison of Bay Minette, AL; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Harbison of Bay Minette, AL; twelve grandchildren, Mark (Rhonda) Harbison, Lance (Angela) Harbison, Kayla Combs, Mandy (Clint) Rountree, Kari Harbison, Sonja (Mike) Minchew, Jennifer (Tiago) Serradura, Beth (Brian) Aaron, Jessica (Jason) White, Krystal Goins, Adrian Harbison and Jaime (Kayla) Harbison and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurshel Harbison; her parents, Dorsey and Viena Drinkard; a son, Byron Harbison; a son-in-law, Jackie Glasgow and two brothers, Everette “Bubba” (Awanga) Drinkard and Alex “Tiny” (Opal) Drinkard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Harbison and Reverend Otis Thames officiating. Burial will follow at New Life Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Lance Harbison, Adrian Harbison, Jaime Harbison, Jonathan Falls, Dalton Minchew, Joshua Minchew, Logan Rountree and Cole Rountree. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Harbison, Tucker Harbison, Grayson Aaron, Noah White and Josiah White.
