Louis Elzbie Roberts, age 89, born in Rabun and a resident of the Crossroads Community died Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at his residence. He was a retired cattle farmer and insurance salesman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Korea. He was a member of the Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498 and a member of the ABBA Shrine Temple.
He is survived by one daughter, Gail Roberts (Daniel) Dauzat of Moreauville, LA; two stepsons, Timothy (Teresa) Mosley of Crossroads and Michael Mosley of Grand Bay, AL; one brother, Gaston (Mildred) Roberts of Bay Minette, AL; three grandchildren, Matthew Guy of Plaucheville, LA, Tiffany (Josh) Huggins of Crossroads and Tera (Brad) Newsome of Crossroads and three great grandchildren, Bentley Newsome, Brycen Newsome and Russell Huggins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Durant Roberts; a granddaughter, April O. Guy; two brothers, Malcolm Roberts and Douzie “Jim” Roberts and his parents, Jim Allen and Sarah Long Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the ABBA Shrine Temple, 7701 Hitt Road, Mobile, AL 36695.
Pallbearers will be William Allen “Bill” Roberts, Joshua Huggins, Brad Newsome, Barry Durant, Jason Miller and Thomas Geeck, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Wolfe, James Reed and Edward Johnson.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Sister Helen Stewart and the Fretwell Church family for their thoughtfulness during Mr. Roberts illness and also a special thank you to the staff of Kindred Hospice and the other care givers for their care of Mr. Roberts.
