Linda Lee (Watts) Thornhill

Linda Lee (Watts) Thornhill, 70, was born on June 3, 1950 to Austin Lee Watts and Elizabeth Irene Watts in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Linda graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor’s degree and devoted her life to helping others in education and social services. Her life’s passion was her children and grandchildren. She was a “Sweetie” to her grandchildren and that title described her personality and disposition. A caretaker in its truest form she lived a life of service. She was a confidant to family and friends constantly spreading joy and wise counsel.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Anne Thornhill Arcement and husband, Richard Arcement, Jr. and Dr. Avery Lee Thornhill Callahan and husband, Dr. Matt Callahan; son, Avery James “Trey” Thornhill, III; sister, Cheryl Turner and husband Bill; brother, Austin Lee Watts Jr; nephews, Austin Lee Watts III, William Wesley Turner and Jonathan Thornhill; granddaughters, Victoria Lee Arcement, and Austyn Blakeley Callahan and grandson, Benjamin Jackson Callahan. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Van Edington officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
