Lee Owen Obituary

Lee Wilson Owen, beloved son, brother, and fiancé, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on June 28, 1955, Lee was the youngest child of James R. Owen and Jo Margaret Owen.

Raised in Bay Minette, Alabama, Lee graduated from Baldwin County High School and later attended Marion Military Institute. His early exposure to military life led him to join the Marine Corps Reserve, setting the foundation for a career that blended discipline with curiosity. Lee found his calling in private investigation, specializing in locating witnesses for legal cases. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a gift that made him both effective and deeply respected in his field.

Lee was a storyteller at heart. He listened intently, learned from others, and shared their stories with warmth and humor. Whether dressed in suspenders and a tie or stepping into the role of a student or a tender-hearted teacher, Lee brought authenticity and compassion to every interaction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Owen and Jo Margaret Owen, and his brother, Albert (Al) Moore Owen. He is survived by his sister, Margaret (Peggy) Owen Ryan (Bill Webster); his brother, James R. Owen, Jr. (Shelley); and his devoted fiancée, Janet Chastang Mosley, who stood by his side with unwavering love and strength during his final weeks.

Lee’s legacy lives on in the stories he told, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A Memorial/Celebration of Life for Lee Wilson Owen (aka “Sargent Rock”) will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the White House Fork Baptist Church, 38613 County Road 39, Bay Minette AL.
