It is with great sadness the family of Joseph “Joe” Homer Cook, Jr., age 86, announces his passing. Following a lengthy battle with cancer, on April 23, 2025 he passed at his Pine Grove home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498 and a member of the ABBA Shrine Center.
Mr. Cook was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He spent his life as a hardworking business owner until he retired. He enjoyed spending his days with family, friends, classic car shows, gardening and watching football.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Homer Cook, Sr. and Effie Lee (Heaton) Cook, as well as three brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Linda O’Bryan (Mike Yarbrough) of Stapleton, AL; granddaughter, Ashley (Bobby) Greger of Grand Bay, AL; longtime friend and companion, Karen Stewart of Bay Minette, AL as well as his great grandchildren.
The family would like to send a special thank you to his great granddaughter, Madison Thomas, Jared Jones and Cindy Jones for their care and compassion they showed him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Windell Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
