Joseph Lloyd Hendrickson, age 84, born in Painter, VA and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at North Baldwin Infirmary. Known to many simply as “Coach”. He was a retired Educator with Baldwin County High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the College of William and Mary where he played football and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Woolf Hendrickson; one son, Holmes (Kim) Hendrickson of Dothan, AL; one daughter, Ev Hendrickson Gunn of Birmingham, AL and three grandchildren, Maggie Gunn of Austin, TX, Rob Gunn of Birmingham, AL, Ashby Hendrickson of Dothan, AL, and sister-in-law, Diane Hendrickson and family in VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Holmes “Jack” and Margaret Smith Hendrickson and a brother, Michael Hendrickson.
Graveside services and burial will be held Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Campground United Methodist Cemetery in Sweetwater, AL. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Bay Minette.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 8, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at the First United Methodist Church.
