Johnny F. Windham

Johnny F. Windham, age 90, a longtime Atmore resident, passed away in Mobile after a brief illness on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Johnny was born April 1, 1936, in Helena, AL, the son of Choyce and Wilma (Sudduth).  The family later moved to Bay Minette where he attended Baldwin Co. High School.  After high school, he apprenticed as a press operator at the Baldwin Times. He went on to make a career as a newspaper man and eventually owned his own commercial printing business, Advanced Printing.  He also served in the National Guard for 10 years until he was honorably discharged.

After retiring, Johnny enjoyed many hobbies including working on his antique cars. He attended numerous car shows and won many awards. He spent many hours on the tractor maintaining his tree farm. He loved his traditional country music and could talk for hours on the subject.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Sylba, Billy, Frank and Dan.

Mr. Windham is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia Mothershead; children Stacy Speir (John), Sarah O’Donnell (Kevin), and Lamar (Amanda); grandchildren Elizabeth Brightman (Ryan), Kaitlin Matranga (Matthew), Kacey Davenport (Collin), Andrew Tew (Hallie), and Samantha Ford; great-grandchildren Charlie Brightman, Eleanor, Anthony, and Carmen Matranga, Gwendolyn and Sylvia Davenport and Charlie Tew.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Arnold Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are John Speir, Kevin O’Donnell, Ryan Brightman, Matthew Matranga, Collin Davenport, and Ben Brown.
