John Raymond Smith, Sr., age 68, born in Odgen, UT a resident of Spanish Fort, AL died Monday, April 5, 2021 at his residence. He was a manager at Hub City Towing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hudson Smith of Spanish Fort, AL; his children, Tabitha S. Ochoa of Daphne, AL, John Raymond Smith, Jr. of Anchorage, AK, Shawn Christopher (April) Smith of Stapleton, AL, Stanley E. (Lindsey) Portenga of Spanish Fort, AL and Samantha (Ryan) O’Dell of Spanish Fort, AL; one brother, Jimmy Smith of Gateswood; grandchildren, Lauren, Luke (Brittany), Cameron, Bryson, Ashton, Avery, Delaynie, Ty, Aubrey, Easton, Eli, Eian and Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Mary Grist Smith; a brother, Reggie Smith and a sister, Marie Scott.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Odell, Stanley Portenga, Luke Smith, Cameron Smith, Avery Ochoa and Mike Brown.
