John Avery Blackmon, age 17, born in Mobile, AL and a resident of Spanish Fort, AL died Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was a laborer at Ammons and Blackmon Construction. He was a recent graduate of Spanish Fort High School Class of 2020.
He is survived by his parents, John J. “J.J.” (Angela) Blackmon of Davenport, FL and Cheyanne (Davis) Strickland of Spanish Fort, AL; one sister, Aaron Blackmon of Auburn, AL; grandparents, Beverly Sharpe Blackmon of Stapleton, AL and Len and Carolyn Strickland of Fairhope, AL; aunts, uncles and cousins, Lana Zakary, Jamie Zakary, Stephen and Ashley Strickland, Danny and Kelly Harrison, Chance Zakary, Vincent Culliver, Tyler Culliver, Grace Culliver, Marrs Zakary, Bennett Strickland, Hayes Strickland, Lindsay Harrison Miller, Katie Harrison Cargile and Jessie Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Marrs Blackmon; his grandmother, Sherry Harrison Jones and great grandparents, John Henry Blackmon, Perrie Lee Blackmon, Martha Joan Sharpe, Reginald E. Sharpe, Reuben John Harrison and Suddie Mae Harrison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Beverly Blackmon located at 13768 Trawick Road, Stapleton AL 36578 with visitation one hour prior with Reverend Matt Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tucker McCraney, Marrs Zakary, Jordan Ammons, Brett Bryant, Kalen Kimbler, Chandler Peacock, Tanner Keesee and Conner Cummings. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Blayne Shackelford and James Tyler Drinkard.
The family ask that due to COVID-19 please practice social distancing and masks are recommended but not required. Please dress appropriately as this is an outdoor service.
