Jimmy Franklin, age 78, a native and resident of Bay Minette, AL passed away Friday, July 24, 2026 at his residence. He was a Bay Minette police officer, where he retired as a Captain after 20+ years. He was also a preacher at St. Andrews Chapel in Creola and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard retiring after 20+ years of service. Jimmy enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling. He saw many states with good friends, Andy and Stanley Hall.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Franklin Burkett and Jennifer (Eric) Hastings; his grandchildren, Kristen (Taylor) Simoneau, Maggie Burkett, Brianna Powell, Brooke Powell, Stefanie (Cody) Truhel, Sydney Hastings, Eric (Ariel) Hastings and Elija (Tiara) Hastings; his great grandchildren, Kristopher, Owen, Eli, Noah, Abel, Magnolia, Miles and Mila; his siblings, Ricky (Lois) Franklin, Johnny (Betty) Franklin and Caroline (David) Coleman and special family, David and Bonnie Powell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Earl Franklin Hollingsworth; his father, Mose J. Franklin and a sister, Bonnie Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Eric Hastings, Eric Hastings, Jr., Elija Hastings, David Powell, Patrick Coleman and Matt Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Parker and Billy Mosley.
Private services will be held.
