Jay Benton Ledbetter, Jr.

Jay Benton Ledbetter, Jr., age 91, born in Ellinwood, KS and a resident of Daphne, AL died Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Blake in Malbis. He was a retired U.S. Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Air Force. He was also employed by the Baldwin County Pardons and Parole Board.

 He had a balanced and examined life! Rich in love and slow to anger; Jay knew that life was full of changes. He realized that all things can be beautiful in their own time. Jay was passionate about work, self-improvement and pleasure. His life adventure was accompanied by a wonderful wife, Ivy Hugh Ledbetter who predeceased him; his two children, Christopher “Chris” (Beth) Ledbetter of Stapleton, AL and Jamie (David) Tillery of Bay Minette, AL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Jay focused with great commitment as a husband, father, warrior, teacher, counselor and marksman. He truly seized the day! An invitation to have a cup of coffee or a “coke” quickly revealed that you were enjoying your time with one of the smartest guys you would ever meet. Jay engaged your heart and mind, so naturally you will treasure this relationship more that any possession you’ve owned. He was attentive to each season of life—be it war or peace. We should cherish his lifestyle and be determined not to waste our lives living like this is all there is. We should remember to let our souls sing when the evening comes!

Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Riley Cooper officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
