James Sims Obituary

James Harold Sims, age 84, born in Latham, AL and a resident of Rabun died Friday, January 17, 2020 at University Hospital. He was a retired welder of 35 years at Monsanto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife if 60 years, Barbara Ann Stewart Sims of Rabun; his children, James Todd Sims of Panama City, FL, Mark Christopher (Carmen) Sims of Tibbie, AL and Bradley Jason (Jami) Sims of McMinneville, OR; one brother, Rufus Glenn Sims of Ketchikan, AK; fifteen grandchildren, Brittney, Dakota, Lilly, Andrew, Alex, Kelsey, James, Sydney, Riley, Sara, Bo, Carrie, Joel, Madelyn and Justin and eleven great grandchildren, Jaxon, Bentley, Tatum, Zoey, Reid, Annleigh, Aaliyah, Mason, Eli, Londyn and Ryn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin and Estelle Gulsby Sims and a brother, Cecil Sims.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at New Providence Baptist Church with Reverend Henry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at New Providence Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service at New Providence Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Sims, Alex Sims, James Sims, Riley Sims, Bo Sims and Justin Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Reid Sims and Joel Sims.

Although the family will accept flowers they suggest memorial contributions be made to the church of your choice.
