James Jerry Stewart, age 82, born in Bay Minette, AL and a resident of the New Life Community died Saturday, March 7, 2026 at his residence. He was a retired supervisor of operations at Chevron on Blakeley Island. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Stewart of New Life Community; one son, Chad (Dolores) Stewart of Hampton, NH; one daughter, Melanie (Conrad) Bender of Sylva, NC; grandchildren, Joshua Oliva of Seattle, WA, Kaitlyn Stewart of Hampton, NH, Michael Stewart of Hampton, NH, Clay (Samantha) Bender of Bay Minette, AL, Sarah (Ryan Megill) Bender of Washington, DC and Amber Bender of Sylva, NC.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Stewart and two sisters, Shirley Quinley and Elaine Bray
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Bishop Alan Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Stewart, Joshua Oliva, Clay Bender, Todd Stewart, Michael Gray and Nicholas Gray.
