Jack Douglas Proffitt, age 87, born in Tazewell, VA and a resident of Crossroads died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at William F. Green State Veterans Home. He was a retired Warrant Office with the U.S. Army having served during Korea.
He is survived by his children, Francine Proffitt (Dewayne) Holley of Crossroads, Michael Douglas (Shannon) Proffitt of Simpsonville, SC, Jacqueline Marie Proffitt Miller of Harvest, AL and Steven Duane (Glenda) Proffitt of Evans, GA; the mother of his children, Marie Bishop Hollingsworth of Crossroads; grandchildren, Patrick Holt, Christy Harris, Shaunna Sue Proffitt, Heather Lynn Proffitt, Michaela Proffitt, Stevie Lee Proffitt, Nick Harris, John Ryan Blankenship, Rebekah (Wesley) Bates, Kenneth Daniel Holley, Joy Elizabeth (Meleeke) Garrett and Andrew Scott Holley; eleven grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Veazey; his brothers, Robert Proffitt, Roy Proffitt and Richard Proffitt, Jr. and a grandson, Phillip Holt.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Durant Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. service at Durant Chapel Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to William F. Green State Veterans Home, 300 Faulkner Drive, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
