Illa Ozelle Jones

Illa Ozelle “MiMi’ Jones, age 85, a native of Greenville, AL and a longtime resident of Bay Minette, AL was born on October 5, 1938 and went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in Fairhope, AL. She was a longtime resident of Montrose Bay/Arabella Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Ms. Illa held the position of Residential President for most of her stay at Montrose Bay and referred to Montrose as her home. She treasured positive relationships with her nurses and caregivers, who often called her “The Boss Lady.”

Ms. Jones is survived by her sister, Cecelia Jones Necaise of Memphis, TN; her only child, a daughter, Gwenda Carol Lee Alidor of Mobile, AL; one granddaughter, Amy Caroline Branum of Sacramento, CA; two grandsons, Pierce Xavier “Jake” (Traci) Branum, II of Bay Minette, AL and David Eugene (Bethany) Madison, III of Mobile, AL; three great granddaughters, Forrest Illa Anastasia Gardner of Camas, WA, Karmen Elizabeth Harding of Nashville, TN and Amara Lin Steiner of Sacramento, CA; three great grandsons, Todd Christopher Harding, Jr. of Fairhope, AL, Roan Xavier Branum of Bay Minette, AL and Samuel Pierce Branum of Bay Minette, AL and nieces whom she loved dearly, Darlene Robertson, Antoinette Jones, Jule Dunham, Rhonda Kuykendall and Donna Faye Francis.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter who was her heart, Dawn Kimberly Branum; her parents, Fred and Molly Lou Jones; her husbands, Onree Wilson of Stapleton and Carl Edwin Jones of Nashville, TN; a great grandson, Aiden Steiner of Asheville, NC; her brother, Earl Jones, Sr. of Bay Minette, AL and a nephew, Earl Jones, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Jack Morgan of Congregation Tree of Life officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jake Branum, II, Roan Branum, Samuel Branum, David Madison, III, Troy Mortellaro and Patrick Robinson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to David and Betty Lou Clemmons for lighting a candle in the Holy Monastery of Saint Stephen’s in Meteora, Greece. A special thank you to Community Hospice ladies; Melia, Candy and Antoinette and Montrose nurses, Jenny, Rebecca, Samara and CNA’s Tonya and Tina and the cafeteria workers and everyone at Montrose Bay.
