Horace Edward Askew, age 79, passed away February 23, 2026. He was born on August 11, 1946, and was a resident of Greensboro, Georgia for much of his life and a recent resident of Bay Minette, Alabama.
Horace was a man who found joy in working with his hands. His passions included restoring vintage cars, attending car shows, riding his Harley, and spending countless hours tinkering in his shop—places where his creativity, patience, and skill truly shined.
Those who knew Horace will remember his steady presence, his deep appreciation for craftsmanship, and the pride he took in the things he built and restored. His legacy lives on through the love he gave, the work he left behind, and the stories that will continue to be shared.
Horace is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine Anne Askew, his step-children, Glenda (Greg) Pouliot, Achille “Gene” (Sarah) Lorge, Timothy (Paula) Lorge, Jason (Pamela) Lorge, and one brother, Allen (Sandra) Askew and sister-in-law, Joann Askew, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends. He was presided in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Askew, his step-son Steve Jefferson Lorge, his parents, Thurston Starr and Carles Davis Askew and 2 brothers, Raymond (Carol) Askew, and William Askew.
He will be deeply missed by his wife and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
