Harold Gibson Obituary

Harold Eugene “Gene” Gibson, age 76, born in Mobile, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Thursday, October 3, 2024 at USA Medical Center. He was retired from Baldwin Lighting where he worked in quality control and also worked at International Paper as a machine operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Delores Mixon Gibson of Bay Minette, AL; his children, Rodney Gerald Shipp of Mobile, AL, Ginger Gibson (Chris) Dupree of Daphne, AL and Jason Carl (Jennifer) Shipp of Lillian, AL; one brother, George Calvin (Margaret) Gibson of Semmes, AL; one sister, Sherry Ann (Tommy) Norman of Turnerville, AL; four grandchildren, Zackary Ryan (Emily) Gibson, Courtney Leann (Jake) Singleton, Caroline Elizabeth Shipp and Sarah Lynn Shipp and four great grandchildren, Carter Ryan Gilbert, Arya Parker Gilbert, Ember Rayne Gilbert and Adalyn Reese Gilbert.

He was preceded by his mother, Elsie Mae Hayles Gibson and his father, John Calvin Gibson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. service at the First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be the men’s ministry of First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1628, Bay Minette, AL 36507.
