Gordon Lawrence Mothershed

Gordon Lawrence Mothershed, age 67, born in Mobile, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his residence. He was a retired truck driver.

Gordon was a 1974 graduate of Baldwin County High School. He then attended Auburn University, where he proudly played trumpet in the Auburn University Marching Band. Over the years, Gordon enjoyed returning to Auburn to play in the Alumni Band. Gordon returned to Bay Minette to work for the family business. Gordon also worked as a first responder for EMS for many years before devoting his latter years to truck driving. Gordon enjoyed serving as a volunteer Fireman for many years with the Bay Minette Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Mothershed of Bay Minette, AL; one son, Peter Mothershed of Redding, CA; one daughter, Jia Mothershed of Mobile, AL; one sister, Karmen (Harry) Still of Bay Minette, AL and stepchildren, Jessica Crumpley, Joel Barnette and Sam Barnette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon William Mothershed and Karoline Groeteke Mothershed and a sister, Karla Mothershed.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Malcolm Harrelson and Daniel Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at New Life Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Steve Bitowf, Harry Still, Jr., Curtis Odom, Richard Fry, Steve Hannah and Richard O’Gwynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Schneider and Bob Johnson.

Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to New Life Baptist Church, 49535 Rabun Road, Bay Minette, AL 36507 or to Springhill Hospice, 27880 North Main Street, Suite B, Daphne, AL 36526.
