Gloria E. (Pierce) Mixon

Gloria Pierce Mixon, age 69, a native of Elsanor, AL and longtime resident of Bay Minette, AL passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 after a brief illness. Gloria retired from the US Postal Service after nearly 30 years. Her greatest love was her family. If you didn’t find her working in her yard, she could be found at the beach. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She was a true optimist and loved people.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucille Pierce, her loving husband, Doug Mixon, brothers, Jerry Pierce, Gary Pierce and Rex Pierce and sister, Iris Jean Ryals.

She was a loving mother to Carla (Todd) Stewart of Bay Minette, AL and Ashley (Chris) Blackburn of Little River, AL. She was adoring “Gammy” to Thomas, Cooper, Connor and Brady. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Pierce of Elsanor, AL; one sister, JoAnna (Denson) Glover of Rosinton, AL; her significant other of 15 years, Charles Phillips and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 3:00 at First Baptist Church Bay Minette with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00.

Pallbearers will be her beloved nephews, Marty Pierce, Donnie Pierce, Wally Pierce, Brent Pierce, Josh Glover and Tony Ryals. Honorary pallbearers are Theron Pettis, David Petelinski, Steve Williams, Larry Roberts and Walt Yohn.
