Glenda Jeanette Powell Smith, age 72, born in Little River, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, AL died Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Sacred Heart Hospice in Pensacola. She worked in receiving at Mobile Aero Space.
She is survived by her children, Bridget D. Applegate of Bay Minette, AL, Jerry Greek of Horseneck Community and Gidget (Keith) Stalcup of Theodore, AL; three brothers, Dollan (Louise) Powell of Crossroads, Leon (Wynona) Powell of Stapleton, AL and Junior (Edee) Powell of Murfreesboro, TN; five sisters, Clauice (Thomas) Donald of White House Fork, Opal Vinson of Crossroads, Mable Leggett of Mobile, AL, Virginia (Keith) Leggett of Braxton, MS and Tyiese (Del) Sargent of White House Fork; nine grandchildren, Brittany (Ron) Atherton, Jonathan (Kathryn) Welch, Amber (Adam) Stalcup, Shelby (Brandon) Emmons, Alexis Shane Fielding, Hunter Applegate, Julia Greek, Fred Applegate, Jr. and Trinity Stalcup and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertice and Loter V. Presley Powell; a sister, Lillian Powell and two brothers, David Powell and Bill Powell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend J.P. Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Welch, Hunter Applegate, Freddy Applegate, Shane Fielding, Adam Davis and Ronald Atherton. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilton Donald, Keith Leggett and Dave Leggett.
