Glen Freeman

Glen Freeman was affectionally known by many monikers such as Tittle, Ship Wreck and Captain Glen, but his favorite one was Papa. He was a former Marine who loved his country, and a husband and father who loved his family. Two major events changed his life. The first one was when he accepted Jesus as his Savior when Bro. Roger Keener led him to the Lord on April 18, 1974 and he was baptized and became a member of Bible Baptist Church in Spanish Fort, Alabama. His life verse was John 3:16. The second one was when he married the love of his life Joyce on July 9, 1973 and became the father of 3 sons: Woody, Randy and Michael.

He dearly loved his wife Joyce and they had a great life of almost 50 years together. He was a dedicated father who took care of his three sons and welcomed their wives into the family as daughters. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and took care of them. He was a hard worker and never shied away from doing what needed to be done to help family, friends, and his church. He was good to so many people and would go out of his way to help others even if that meant he would have to sacrifice something he wanted to do. He and all six of his brothers followed their father in ‘RUNNING THE RIVER’ as towboat captains. He grew up on a farm and when not on the river you could find him working on the farm or working as a mechanic to earn extra money or helping his friends work on their cars or tractors for free.

On October 20, 1944 he entered this world in Fairhope, Alabama. On June 13, 2026 he passed away at his home in Spanish Fort, Alabama and entered heaven. He was welcomed by Jesus. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Teresa Blair; son Randy Goodwin and wife Denise; son Michael Goodwin and wife Marilyn. Six grandchildren: Jeremy Blair and wife Jenny, Joshua Blair, Mandy Nichols and husband Geoff, Ashley Goodwin and husband Corey Spradley, Kayley Stroud, and Micah Goodwin. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Novalee Blair, Rosalie Blair, Jax Stroud, Violet Spradley, Cordelia Nichols, and Brooks Nichols and host of family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife Joyce and his son Woody Blair; his father and mother Floyd and Ruth Freeman; his six brothers: Oliver Freeman, Robert Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, Hugh Freeman, Gene Freeman, and Harry Freeman. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Randall Short and Reverend Michael Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Blair, Joshua Blair, Micah Goodwin, Corey Spradley, Curtis Cooper, Jr and Mike Freeman.
