Freddie Gene McDill

Freddie Gene McDill, age 86, born in Ohatchee, AL and a resident of the Pine Grove Community died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Thomas Hospital. He was a retired soil test engineer for the State of Alabama. He was a member of the Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years where he served as Assistant Chief, Chief and held many other positions. He was also a member of the Baldwin County Sherriff Department Mounted Posse.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Faye Headrick McDill of Pine Grove; one son, Randy Gene (Kay) McDill of Pine Grove; one daughter, Wanda McDill of Bay Minette, AL; three sisters, Deanne (Ed) Young of Ohatchee, AL, Arlene (Lin) Parton of Ohatchee, AL and Donna Belew of Ohatchee, AL; grandchildren, Benjamin McDill, April Todd and Bradley Schwartz and great grandchildren, Vera Schwartz, Ryker Schwartz, Bradon Schwartz, Madison Schwartz, Layton McDill, Caison McDill, Gunter Todd, Tucker Todd and R.J. McDill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Claude and Dixie Leona Lee McDill; three brothers, Billy McDill, Jake McDill and Ellis McDill; a grandson, Daniel Schwartz and a daughter, Teresa McDill.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Pettis officiating. Burial will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Ohatchee, AL.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until the 6:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home,
