Franklin D. Moorer, age 86, born in Bay Minette, AL and a resident of the Phillipsville Community died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his residence. He was a retired shipbuilder at Ingalls Shipyard.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pearl Flowers Moorer of Phillipsville; his children, George Franklin (Rhonda) Moorer of Phillipsville, Shelia Denise Cooper of Bay Minette, AL, Ulmer Keith (Jean) Moorer of Stockton, AL and Gregory Scott Golightly of Phillipsville; one brother, Walter (Judy) Moorer of White House Fork; two sisters, Margaret Ruth Wallace of Crossroads and Dale Akins of Bay Minette, AL; eight grandchildren, Jordan (Matt) Bryant, Logan Moorer, Morgan (J.T.) Vangelder, John Tyler (Shelley) Pierce, Brian (Callie) Cooper, Cody (Joana) Moorer, Christopher (Lyndsey) Cooper and Addison (A.O.) Moorer and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart and Reverend Windell Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Colin Cooper, John Tyler Pierce, Cody Moorer and Matt Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred LaFea, Marcus Bryant, Bill Trawick, Hayden Bryant, Caysen Bryant and Christopher Cooper.
Although the family will accept flowers, they suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
