Ellen Arden Harris, 64, passed away July 3, 2021 after a brief illness. Ellen was born in Bay Minette on November 5, 1956. She graduated from Baldwin County High School and Faulkner State Junior College. While in college, she was active in the Bay Minette Little Theater, playing major supporting roles in the musicals Oliver and the Sound of Music. She was in the gospel group The Redeemed, which produced a record of their songs.
After college, Ellen moved to New Orleans where she worked for the New Orleans Public Library. She moved to Mobile where she worked for the Mobile County Health Department until her death. Upon the passing of her father, she moved back to Bay Minette to care for her mother who was wheel chair bound.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; James Madison Harris and Jocelyn Tunstall Harris and her grandparents; Edmund and Catherine Tunstall. She is survived by her children; Matthew Harris and Erin Fox both of Bay Minette, AL; her sisters; Catherine (William) Garretson of Foley, AL and Maryanne (Janet Cazes) Harris of Bay Minette, AL her grandchildren; Keaton Betts and Jacelyn Fox, both of Bay Minette, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
She attended City Hope Church, Malbis, AL. Ellen was devoted to her children, grandchildren, family and friends who will greatly missed her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 10 at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 pm. A reception at Rosa’s Place follows the graveside benediction.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Carpenter, Charles Evan Carpenter, Stuart Carpenter, Todd Stokes, Sammy Dean and Calvin Means.
