Dorothy Anne Jenkins Parker was born on February 26, 1934 in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Eva Wise Jenkins and Richard Ostler Jenkins. She was the youngest and last-surviving of four children, Lorraine, Nelda, and Virgil.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Franklin Eugene Parker, and their oldest son, Roger Alan Parker, as well as her son-in-law Michael Murphy.
Dorothy was a creator-sharing her love of music and art into her 80’s. An accomplished viola and violin player, she played for many years with the Bay Area Strings group.
Her life-long talent and love of sewing lead to her work as a textile artist, creating quilts, wall, hangings, purses, and hats, that she regularly displayed and sold at Cathedral Square Market and other artist venues.
A two-time survivor of breast cancer, Dorothy regularly made hats for chemotherapy patients that she donated to Mitchell Cancer Institute.
She is survived by her children Irene (Hurd) Finnegan of Bay Minette, Holly (Michael) Murphy of Mobile, and Craig Parker, of Orange Beach, her grandchildren Shane Finnegan, Kim Dunagan, Brett Parker and Kevin Parker, and her nieces and nephews, as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
Per Dorothy‘s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes lain to rest next to her husband’s in the Mineola Methodist cemetery in Mineola, Alabama.
The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the North Baldwin Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 190, Bay Minette, AL 36507
