Delores Nell (White) Scogin

Delores Nell Scogin, age 83, of Bay Minette, Alabama, passed away at her residence July 28, 2026.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Delores was the daughter of Walter Mitchell White and Nellree Baggett White. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Joel Wade Jones, and her granddaughter, Sarah Jones.

She is survived by her children, Holt (Kathy) Scogin of Irvington, AL and Anissa Scogin of Coden, AL; her beloved grandchildren, Spencer, Sellena, Blake, Joseph, and Olivia; her sister, Myrna Bauter of Krum, TX; her brother, Walter Joseph (Deborah) White of Bay Minette, AL; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.

Delores attended cosmetology school and began her career in cosmetology at Merle Norman Studio in Bay Minette. She later worked for many years at Springhill Memorial Hospital, where she remained until her retirement.

Delores was a devoted mother, a proud MawMaw, a caring sister, and a woman whose life was centered on family. She shared a special bond with her sister, Myrna, and together they created many stories that would be told and retold through the years, often dragging their little brother into these adventures and once even spending an entire day hiding beneath the family home after skipping school, the siblings' antics became treasured family memories.

Delores never hesitated to share a memory or laugh about life's adventures. Her stories, laughter, and loving spirit brought joy to those around her and will continue to live on in the memories of all who knew her.

Delores remained rooted in her faith throughout her life and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and family devotion that will be remembered for generations.

A memorial service celebrating Delores's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Community of Christ), 700 Moog Avenue, Bay Minette, Alabama 36507 with Elder Jimmie Clark and Bishop Stancil Wilson officiating.
