David Johnathan Stephens, 49, passed away in his Foley home on November 17, 2024. He was a native of Bay Minette Alabama and 1994 BCHS graduate. His life held many pursuits, occupations, and interests; but the role of father was his greatest. Son of Edwina and Jeff. The youngest of 5 siblings. Father to Johnathan.
He was a big, strong, rugged man who had a kind heart. At 49 he was still becoming the man he wanted to be. He was working on himself, living for his son, and planning for a future that will not come. But we will hold him in our hearts and take him with us as we go; and see him once more on the other side.
He was preceded in death by his father Nathaniel “Jeff” Stephens of Bay Minettte. By his grandparents John and Anne Gilchrist of Silverhill and Louis and Nell Ree Smith of Saraland.
David is survived by his only son Johnathan Stephens student at USA; mother Edwina Stephens of Bay Minette, brother Daniel Stephens (Kum Cho) of Atmore; sisters Diane Stephens of Bay Minette, Cindy Stephens (Greg Wearren) of Bratt, FL, Cheryl Aplin (Todd) of Zachary, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews who thought of David more as “one of them” than as an uncle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bay Minette with Revered Mike Bedford officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 23, 2024 from noon until the 2:00 p.m. service at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jason Barkley, Gabriel Stapleton, Nathan Matthews, Tim Schwenger, Spencer Pollett and Casey Kilgore.
