Danny Edward Buck was born on April 24, 1949 in Atmore, Alabama. The oldest of 4 children, Danny spent his childhood farming and stalking game in the woods. He passed peacefully in his home on May 24, 2025 at the age of 76, surrounded by the warmth of his family.
When he was 19 he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Danny served his country faithfully on US soil. In 1968, Danny met Sue Davis in Spanish Fort. He asked her for a date, she trepidatiously agreed. They were married on November 10, 1969, a rare and unique partnership of love and consideration until the very end of his life. Danny and Sue spent their early years of marriage traveling from base to base as Danny achieved the rank of Sergeant in under three years. After an honorable discharge, they settled back in Alabama, where Danny served his community again as a police officer for the city of Mobile, until his retirement in 1999. Danny’s life was rich in adventure. He was security on movie sets, raised tropical birds, an avid crab trapper, and he broke almost every bone a man could break. He never met an animal he didn’t love.
He leaves behind his wife Sue Buck and his daughter Katrina Schaar, his sisters Maryllis (Rodney) Lunsford, and Melinda Joyner. He leaves behind his grandchildren Brandon Mosley, Brittany Hultquist, Meg Grace, and Maddie Grace-Morse, as well as his great grandchildren Maverick Hultquist, Kylin Hultquist, and Ellis Mosley- all who knew him as ‘papa’. He leaves behind his nephews Justin, Jason, and Jared Davis, Kevin Louthain, Chris and Kyle Lundsford, and his nieces Jennifer Louthain-Massey, and Jessica Oberkirch. He leaves behind a cherished collection of in-laws, Mike Schaar, Jared Morse, Joe Hultquist, Katrina Mosley-Mazza, Matt Grace, Jessica Davis, Marsha Davis, Carroll Davis, and George Davis. He leaves behind friends, beloved pets, and everyone he has ever been of service to.
He is preceded in death by his mother Lois Loretta Seals, his brother Donnie Buck, his daughter Kimberly Buck, his granddaughter Brooke Mosley, and his great grandchild Maddox Mosley.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery at a date.
