Claude Johnson

Claude Johnson, 83, passed away at his home with family on April 27th, 2024 following a decline in health from end stage kidney disease. Born on November 17th, 1940 to Hestle Henry Johnson and Annie Lorena Johnson, Claude lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way. He married Kathryn Trawick on June 14th, 1969 and they had two children, Shane and Tracy. 

Claude attended Baldwin County High School and graduated in 1958. He was a longstanding member of Southside Baptist Church in Bay Minette, AL.  He retired from the Alabama State Highway Department after 32 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he became an entrepreneur of several small businesses, and engaged in various skilled employment positions. In his spare time, Claude enjoyed the company of his family and horticulture. 

Claude is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Kathryn Trawick Johnson; Two loving children, Shane (Jennifer) Johnson of Bay Minette, AL, and Tracy Johnson of Bay Minette, AL; Six grandchildren:  Nathaniel Johnson, Isaiah Johnson, Ashton Johnson, Jadyn Johnson, Destiny Johnson, and Amelia Johnson; Five great grandchildren: Emberlyn, Nova, Braxton, Annistyn, and Lucian.  He is also survived by his three siblings; Nora (Roy) Godwin of Bay Minette, AL, Gloria (Billy) Wallace of Bay Minette, AL, and Raymond (Linda) Johnson of Pascagoula, MS.  He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends, including his very long-time friend, George Cash.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Bay Minette, AL. His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 1st at 11 a.m. also at Southside Baptist Church in Bay Minette, AL. Pastor Jason Hughes will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Claude's life.  Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery, in Whitehouse Fork, AL.  

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Johnson, Isaiah Johnson, Ashton Johnson, Cameron Boyington, Zachary Richter, and Brandon Watson.
