Celia Irene (Wilson) Melton

Celia Irene Melton, age of 88 of Stapleton, Alabama, passed on November 15, 2023. Irene was born September 4, 1935 and lived with her family in Stapleton. She retired from Manor Slacks after more than 25 years of service.

Irene was loved by many and loved many. She was a helpmate to her husband, mother to their only son and his wife, grandmother to her two grandchildren, and honorary grandmother to many. She loved to bake and share with her large family. She sowed love into the lives of many, especially children. She was always ready and willing to play whatever the kids wanted to play, be it riding an ATV, jumping on a trampoline, or playing board games. We are all thankful for the memories made together and will cherish them and build upon her legacy by sowing love into others.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luke and Ceila Wilson and siblings L.T. Wilson, Hubert Wilson, Mary Dee Melton, Marie Smith, Onree Wilson, Dorothy Nichols, Marjorie Blair, Clyde Wilson, Virginia Harris, and Charles Wilson. She leaves behind her husband, Raymond Melton and son, Donald Melton (Patty). She was blessed with two grandchildren; Cindy Paul (Richard) and Jonathan Melton (Jennifer). Great-grandchildren, Abbi, Josie, Thomas, and Jasper enjoyed spending time with her at her home in Stapleton. Surviving siblings are Henry Wilson (Maxine), Jerrell Wilson (Shirley), and Bobbie Byrd (George) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on November 17, 2023 at Stapleton Baptist Church in Stapleton, Alabama with graveside service immediately following. Family will receive friends and family from 10-11am prior to the funeral services.

Service will be led by her grandson in love, Richard Paul. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Melton, Grey Horton, Loren Powers, Alex Powers, Clifton Wilson, and Russell Smith.
