Carolyn Jane (Cunningham) Gaines

Carolyn Jane Cunningham Gaines, age 77, a native and resident of Stapleton, AL died Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Thomas Hospital. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard Irvin Gaines of Stapleton, AL; her children, Rebecca Ann Gaines of Stapleton, AL, Richard Preston (Christine) Gaines of Spanish Fort, AL and John Calvin Gaines of Stapleton, AL; two brothers, Roger (Wanda) Cunningham and Mike (Traci) Cunningham all of Stapleton, AL and four grandchildren, Gabe, Eli and Ella Gaines and Sarah Jaye.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Woodrow and Celia Head Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Stapleton Methodist Church with Reverend George Weaver, Reverend Ron Hill and Reverend John King officiating. Burial will follow at Stapleton Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Stapleton Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Steven Cunningham, Sam Cunningham, Charles Head, Raleigh Hill, Gavin Kostelecky and Brian Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kendall Gordon, Jerry Head, Darrell Mosley and Ernie Wood.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to Stapleton Methodist Church.
